As part of a revived Anti-Corruption Coordination Initiative (ACCI), on December 7, 2006, the Rule of Law Initiative held the first of what will be regular monthly donor coordination meetings in Kyiv. Representatives from over 25 international organizations and NGOs, including funders from the U.S. Embassy, USAID, Council of Europe and the European Commission, attended the meeting.
Both the Ukrainian government and international donors have identified anti-corruption efforts as a major priority. In response, the Rule of Law Initiative has created a mechanism for facilitating the exchange of information and best practices in this field, in part through more robust donor coordination. The ACCI is intended to serve as an information service for all parties active in the field of combating corruption, with the Rule of Law Initiative's Kyiv office serving as a secretariat. The services provided to initiative members will include weekly news updates, monthly briefing memos on legal and political developments, informational bulletins on anti-corruption events, and the creation of an anti-corruption resource library. Through this USAID-funded project, the Rule of Law Initiative hopes to strengthen the dialogue among civil society, government, and the donor community on anti-corruption issues in Ukraine.
