Background

The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) has been engaged in advancing the rule of law in Tajikistan since 1997. Since that time, ABA ROLI has provided support to the justice sector, nongovernmental organizations, law students, and others working in the rule of law field in Tajikistan. Currently, ABA ROLI is implementing two programs in Tajikistan: Supporting Tajikistan’s Rule of Law Landscape (STROLL) funded by the US Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, and the Tajikistan Legal Support Activity (LSA) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Both programs aim to enhance the rule of law and legal institutions in Tajikistan as well as increase access to justice for Tajik citizens.
