Video: Case Management Information System Boosts Transparency and Efficiency in Philippine Courts

In 2011, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative—with the U.S. Agency for International Development’s support—coordinated with the Philippine Court of Appeals to launch the Court Management Information Systems. The court automation effort, which has more recently been expanded to trial courts, has helped the Court of Appeals ensure increased transparency and adjudicate cases much more quickly and smoothly. The system has enabled the Court of Appeals to clear its clogged dockets; by the end of the year, the court is expected to meet its goal of adjudicating its cases within a year—as mandated by the country’s constitution. This video describes how the system has increased the court’s transparency and efficiency.
