The Rule of Law Initiative’s Asia Division, in collaboration with the Philippine Bar Association (PBA) conducted its second Train-the-Trainer’s workshop on April 16. The one-day workshop was part of the Asia Division's capacity-building program, which aims to increase the use of interactive adult teaching methodologies by CLE trainers in order to increase their ability to conduct engaging and effective seminars and training programs.
Greg Baldwin and past-Philipinnes Country Director Teresa Cannady led the interactive training workshop, guiding participants through various adult teaching methodologies. The one-day training focused on the principles of adult learning, various learning styles, interactive training techniques, and the keys to successful presentations. During the workshop, the participants were divided into four groups to work on a pre-assigned problem using a specific teaching technique, from powerpoint lectures to flip charts utilized in brain-storm session. The groups then gave a presentation for review and discussion.
The participants were provided training materials for use in their future programs. Evaluation forms revealed that while 75% of the participants had some basic knowledge of the various teaching techniques presented during the workshop, all agreed that the training greatly enhanced their fluency, adding that they planned to adopt or make use of the teaching methods in the future.
