Cambodian Association Publishes the Country’s First Law Journal

March 2010

At the March 6–7 second annual academic conference at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, the Cambodian Society of Comparative Law (CSCL) introduced the country’s first-ever law journal.

An association of academics and lawyers, the CSCL held its first academic conference in March 2009 at the Royal University of Law and Economics. Many of the papers presented at the 2009 conference have now been published in the newly launched journal. The ABA Rule of Law Initiative helped edit and prepare the articles for publication.

The journal offers Cambodian academics and legal practitioners an opportunity to engage in analytical research and debate on various legal topics. This initiative is part of the development of a mature judicial and legal regime that allows for debate, reason and argumentation.

ABA-ROLI works in Cambodia in partnership with the East-West Management Institute (EWMI) under the Program on Rights and Justice II (PRAJ II), a cooperative agreement between EWMI and the United States Agency for International Development.
