The Nigeria office of the Rule of Law Initiative conducted Trafficking in Persons (TIP) training programs for trainers within the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) this May. These sessions provided officers of the NPF with the skills and materials necessary to conduct their own education programs. The ABA's training manual, also completed this month, will prove essential in maximizing the impact of future training sessions. This training initiative builds on previous accomplishments by the Nigeria office. In January, immigration officers trained by the ABA and the Nigerian Immigration Service demonstrated the value of the training program by acting on their own initiative to use preliminary drafts of the TIP training materials to conduct cascade TIP training for the new recruits coming into their commands in the North-Central geo-political zone.
