Eswatini has historically treated women as second-class citizens. While the Constitution of Eswatini guarantees equal protection under the law, including based on gender, Swati women continue to suffer disproportionately high levels of discrimination and lack of opportunity in the workforce; constrained access to credit, legal status, property rights; and high levels of GBV.
