On April 15, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) hosted a half-day symposium on access to justice and the rule of law at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza in Washington, DC. Part of ABA ROLI’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the event attracted 220 people to discuss the role of access to justice in the next era of international legal development to be launched this year with the post-2015 Development Goals.
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Tom Malinowski gave a keynote address, which was followed by panel discussions on institutionalizing innovations and successful justice delivery models and on legal empowerment strategies.
