Orlando Munoz

Orlando Munoz, Country Director, Colombia, joined ABA ROLI in April 2019. He is a lawyer licensed to practice both in the U.S. and in his home country, Colombia. Mr. Munoz holds a law degree from the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga, Colombia, where he graduated Cum Laude, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Virginia, U.S, and a Ph.D. in Law from Sergio Arboleda University in Bogotá, with a Magna Cum Laude thesis. Mr. Munoz has more than 20 years of experience working on democratic development issues related to the administration of justice, rule of law, development and human rights. He also served as a prosecutor, judge of appeals, and notary public, all positions won through open competitions. Mr. Munoz also worked as an associate attorney at a Manhattan New York-based law firm (Jaffe and Asher LLP), where he worked on cases involving international bankruptcy and debt collection laws, and performed legal research on bankruptcy. Mr. Munoz is the author of four books, two of them on the U.S. Criminal Accusatory System and its influence over Colombian Criminal Procedure. He has also published articles in legal journals and was a contributor to one of the volumes of the compendium “Crime and Punishment around the World.”
