Amita Vempati

Amita joined ABA in October of 2018 as support for technical assistance programming in the Balkans and Central Asia. She has worked on educational outreach programs with the U.S. State Department and the Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center where she designed and implemented grant-compliant curricula for students from across the United States to rural Tajikistan. She holds a B.A. in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies from the University of Texas and completed her M.A. coursework in Central Eurasian Studies at Indiana University focusing on collective trauma, identity politics, and digital media censorship. She is proficient in Russian, Uzbek, French, Persian, Hindi/Urdu, and Telugu.
