Sarah Kerwegi

Program Director, Ethiopia

Sarah Kerwegi, Program Director in Ethiopia, joined ABA ROLI in November 2018. Prior to joining ABA, she worked with Oxfam in Uganda as the Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy Coordinator. Before Oxfam she managed projects for International Alert on conflict sensitivity and conflict transformation, peacebuilding and inclusive peace processes in the Great Lakes region, engaging with legal instruments on women, peace, and security, and conflict prevention in the extractives sector in East Africa. She oversaw projects on access to justice, transitional justice, gender justice, sexual and reproductive health rights and women's economic rights as Program Director in the Uganda Association of Women lawyers-FIDA Uganda, and managed a capacity strengthening project with education institutions in Uganda. Sarah is an enrolled advocate of the High Court of Uganda with practical experience with the International Criminal Court. Sarah has master's degree in International business law from Leiden University Netherlands and a bachelor's degree in law from Makerere University, Uganda.
