Elizabeth Cleveland, Program Associate

Elizabeth joined ABA ROLI as a Program Associate in October 2022. She recently completed a MA in Gender Studies and Law at SOAS- University of London. Prior to SOAS, she graduated cum laude with a degree in International & Comparative Politics and International Law from the American University of Paris. Her focus, both in academia and the professional world, has been on community-based development projects in sub-Saharan Africa having previously worked with Senegalese and Kenyan women’s and human rights organizations to advance gender equality.

Since April 2020, Elizabeth has been a member of the board of directors of PridePads Africa, a Boulder, Colorado and Ngaoundéré, Cameroon-based non-profit which produces biodegradable menstrual products and provides menstrual health education seminars in northern Cameroon. In summer 2020, she volunteered with Too Young to Wed where she transcribed interviews of Kenyan activists and grassroots organizers as part of the END FGM LIVE campaign. Elizabeth previously interned at the U.S. Mission to the OECD where she gained valuable firsthand experience at an international development institution and a diplomatic mission. She also speaks French.
