    Judicial Security Legislation Stalled

    With only three months left to the 117th Congress and a mere eight weeks when either or both chambers will be in session, the ABA is urging Congress to act swiftly and decisively to pass the Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act.

    Advocate of the Month

    We are proud to honor David English as our Advocate of the Month for September 2022 for his work on reforming the nation’s guardianship system, a task on which he has been continually engaged since 1987. He currently serves as Chair of the National Guardianship Network, which is a coalition of groups involved in guardianship reform. Within the ABA, he is currently a member of the House of Delegates and was previously Chairs of the Commission on Law and Aging and the Section of Real Property Trust and Estate Law. When not teaching law at the University of Missouri or involved with the ABA or other legal groups, he is frequently found at the pipe organ preparing for Sunday services.

    Appropriations Status Table | The Appropriations Status Table on Congress.gov can be used to track the appropriations process, the annual congressional consideration of discretionary funding for government operations. The Table provides information about regular appropriations as well as continuing resolutions, and tracks the status of each bill from initial passage to presidential approval, for fiscal years from 1999 to the present. The Table links directly to documents in Congress.gov as well as the House and Senate websites.

    The ABA Washington Letter is a monthly publication produced by the Governmental Affairs Office to report and analyze congressional and executive branch action on legislative issues of interest to the ABA and the legal profession. The newsletter highlights ABA involvement in the federal legislative process and focuses on the association's legislative and governmental priorities and other issues on which the ABA has policy.
