    Advocate of the Month

    We’re proud to honor Bill Bay as our Advocate of the Month for March 2022 for his hard work and dedication to ABA Day over the past two years. Bill is the current ABA Day Planning Committee Chair and has held the position since 2020. Bill’s leadership and guidance in pivoting to a virtual event was essential to its success. Bill also served as the 2018-2020 Chair of the ABA House of Delegates, is a past-Chair of the ABA Section of Litigation, and a past member of the ABA Board of Governors, where he served as chair of the Board's Finance Committee. He currently serves as the co-chair of the Supreme Court of Missouri's Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness.

    New Exhibit: Join In: Voluntary Association Building in America In November 2022, the Law Library of Congress (LLC) will launch a new permanent exhibit, Join In: Voluntary Association Building in America. The exhibit marks the 400th anniversary of the signing of the Mayflower Compact—the first document to establish self-government. In tandem, the ABA Standing Committee on the Law Library of Congress will launch its new traveling exhibit at the ABA Annual Meeting in August 2022. The ABA exhibit will share the theme of the LLC permanent exhibit by advancing civil rights and social justice and weaving a story beginning with the Mayflower Compact and transitioning to the exploration of how American associations and civil societies are created, built, and sustained over time.

    About the Washington Letter

    The ABA Washington Letter is a monthly publication produced by the Governmental Affairs Office to report and analyze congressional and executive branch action on legislative issues of interest to the ABA and the legal profession. The newsletter highlights ABA involvement in the federal legislative process and focuses on the association's legislative and governmental priorities and other issues on which the ABA has policy.
