This August, members of the ABA Governmental Affairs Office (GAO) will attend the ABA’s Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois. We will meet with ABA entities and members to discuss current federal policy topics, relay the latest updates from Capitol Hill, collect video clips from attendees on issues important to the legal profession, and show legal professionals how they can help impact policy development in Washington, DC.
Serving as a resource for members on policy developments is a key part of what we do, but to advocate the interests of our members and the legal profession, we need to know what is most important to YOU – so come talk to us when you see us. Your input helps us, while we also strive to answer your questions and represent ABA policy interests as best we can.
GAO staff will attend many events throughout the conference, including meetings with the Board of Governors, House of Delegates, state bar leaders, Sections, Divisions, Standing Committees, and Commissions.
Our Grassroots and Digital Advocacy team will also be onsite to show members and attendees how to use our Grassroots Action Center tools to send letters to Congress on ABA policy issues, make phone calls to congressional offices, and even engage with them directly on social media. To demonstrate those tools in real-time, our team will be circulating through the meeting and staff an Advocacy Pop-Up Booth. GAO first debuted this booth in 2019 to allow us to meet more members and show them how to engage on our tools anytime, anywhere. This is an opportunity for members to get involved in issues they care about and learn more about them with our team of policy experts. To locate the Pop-Up booth throughout the Annual meeting, please follow us on Twitter @ABAGrassroots.
Given that this is an election year, GAO has also brought back the ABA Election Center as a tool members can share with their networks to register to vote, check registration status, learn more about voting accessibility, and more. The Election Center will be featured at the Advocacy Pop-Up Booth.
