    Legislative Research Tip

    “Century of Lawmaking” Materials on Congress.gov The Library of Congress “Century of Lawmaking” website serves as a repository of historic congressional documents and legislative materials from 1774 to 1875. One early collection, the Bills and Resolutions from 1799-1873 is now available on the Congress.gov website. Under the “Congress” heading at left, use the drop-down arrow for a full listing of congressional sessions back to 1799. Early versions of the Congressional Record and its predecessor Annals of Congress (1789-1824), will become available on Congress.gov in the future. In the meantime, find an archived version of the 1873-1875 Congressional Record here. Other early collections, such as the Journals of the Continental Congress (1774-1791), will also be made available on Congress.gov.

    About the Washington Letter

    The ABA Washington Letter is a monthly publication produced by the Governmental Affairs Office to report and analyze congressional and executive branch action on legislative issues of interest to the ABA and the legal profession. The newsletter highlights ABA involvement in the federal legislative process and focuses on the association's legislative and governmental priorities and other issues on which the ABA has policy.
