A summit organized by the ABA and Army OneSource brought together a broad cross-section of individuals June 23-24 in Washington to lay the groundwork for creation of a National Military & Veterans Legal Services Network.
The summit, with support from the Bob Woodruff Foundation, featured breakout sessions to identify priorities and capacities for developing a national legal network and to develop recommendations for implementation and operation of the network.
Featured speakers included ABA President-Elect Linda Klein; Matthew Stiner, director of veterans & military affairs, White House; Elizabeth Dole, founder, Elizabeth Dole Foundation; Joyce Raezer, executive director, National Military Family Association; William J. Baer, acting associate attorney general, Department of Justice; Kathy Roth-Douquet, president and CEO, Blue Star Families; and Patrick J. Murphy, under secretary of the U.S. Army.
