    ABA Day 2025 took place on April 8th - 10th! ABA Day is a conference that brings together leaders of the ABA, as well as state and local bars from across the country, to advocate on the Hill on issues of importance to the legal profession. ABA Day 2026 will take place Tuesday, March 24 - Thursday, March 26, 2026.

    ABA Day 2025 Priority Issues

    Judicial Security & the Judges Act

    A bedrock principle of the Constitution is a fair and impartial judiciary where judges can issue decisions based on the facts of the case without fear of reprisal or physical harm. During ABA Day 2025, we will expand on this effort by urging Congress to pass legislation that would establish a State Judicial Threat Intelligence and Resource Center within the existing State Justice Institute to enhance judicial security for state judges. Also, the shortage of judges has a profound effect on the American public as caseloads continue to grow. We will advocate for filling remaining judicial vacancies and passing an omnibus bill creating new judgeships to assure the timely resolution of cases and preserve public confidence in our Judiciary.

    Tax Fairness for Law Firms and Other Professional Service Businesses

    The ABA supports tax simplification and transparency, and we believe that any new tax legislation, or renewal of expiring tax provisions, should treat law firms and other professional service businesses fairly. As Congress prepares to renew key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, urge your Senators and Representatives to retain the existing pass-through tax deduction and apply it to all pass-through businesses, including law firms and other professional service providers, on an equal, non-discriminatory basis to ensure a level playing field for all such businesses.
