Juan Manuel Zarama is an attorney with over 13 years of extensive experience working in the fields of human rights, international law, and transitional justice. He holds an M.A. in Political Philosophy from the Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia), an LL.M. in International Law from Stetson University College of Law (USA), and an LL.M. in Human Rights Advanced Studies from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain). Among other organizations with an international mandate, he has previously worked with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) in London, and the Programme on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. In Colombia, he has worked with the Tribunal for Peace of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP, by its Spanish acronym), the National Center for Historical Memory, and the Government's Victims' Unit. He joined ABA ROLI in September 2020 and currently works as the Deputy Director of Technical Assistance and Coordination for the program Strengthening Judicial Practice in Rural Areas of Colombia.
