James Sassi, Program Associate, joined ABA ROLI’s Latin America and the Caribbean Division in February of 2024. Starting as an intern with the LAC division, James supported a diverse group of projects and portfolios across the region with administrative support and proposal research during the Winter semester. Prior to joining ROLI, James worked at a non-profit organization in Connecticut (Kids in Crisis) providing resources and supporting unaccompanied minors separated from their families at the US border. During his time at Kids in Crisis, James assisted with case management support to the Unaccompanied Children (UC) program implemented by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, utilizing his Spanish language skills to carry out daily activities and federally mandated procedures. James also previously taught English in a public school in Madrid, Spain as part of the CIEE Teach Abroad program, spending one year working in the Carabanchel neighborhood of the city. James received his B.A. in American Studies and Spanish from Carleton College and was a member of the Varsity baseball team. He speaks English and Spanish.
