Stephanie Petingi joined the ABA ROLI Latin American and the Caribbean Division in March 2023 as a Program Associate. Previously, Stephanie interned for the Americas Society/Council of the Americas in Miami, where she worked on a multitude of tasks, including program development and project support. In 2015, Stephanie interned for the government of Uruguay, under the supervision of Dr. Felipe Michelini, in women and children’s rights research in the Southern Cone and assisted in translating documents while attending congressional meetings with politicians serving in the best interest of the citizens of Uruguay. Furthermore, she was an Associate Editor and Social Media Associate for the Journal of Diplomacy and International Relations from September 2020-June 2022. She published two opinion pieces—one related to the Mercosur and European Union collaboration and its significance in Latin America’s economic and social development amid the COVID-19 pandemic and another article about the legal loopholes and social consequences from the over-incarceration of women in Latin America. Stephanie will graduate with a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy with specializations in Foreign Policy Analysis and International Law and Human Rights from Seton Hall University in May 2023.
