Juliet Nyamao is the Senior Program Officer with the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative’s (ABA ROLI) Africa Division, bringing over six years of experience in human rights law, program management, and international advocacy across Africa. In her current role, Juliet plays a key part in advancing ABA ROLI’s Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) portfolio, contributing her expertise to develop and implement innovative programs that promote human rights and the rule of law.
Juliet holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a recipient of the prestigious Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) and Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship Program (WLPPFP) fellowships. Her career includes impactful tenures with the International Republican Institute and Amnesty International USA, where she managed programs, conducted legislative and human rights research, and advocated for vulnerable populations across East and Central Africa.
With a strong commitment to gender equality, Juliet has successfully represented vulnerable populations in court, spearheaded legal aid initiatives for marginalized communities, and published articles on pressing human rights issues. She is an active member of the Law Society of Kenya, the Federation of Women Lawyers of Kenya (FIDA-Kenya), and the Society for International Development in Washington, D.C. Fluent in both English and Swahili, Juliet brings a unique perspective and steadfast dedication to her work, driving progress in the DRC and beyond.
