David de Giles, ABA ROLI's Chief of Party in Guatemala, joined the American Bar Association in early 2024. Originally from Seville, Spain, he completed Law School at the University of Seville and then went on to receive a master’s degree in European Union Law at the University of Paris II (Pantheon-Assas), France. Mr. De Giles is a highly experienced program manager and rule of law expert with comprehensive justice reform and human rights expertise in civil law countries (Haiti, Cote d’Ivoire, El Salvador, Ethiopia). He works closely with local governments and international donors, coordinating activities and promoting effective public outreach and citizen engagement. David de Giles has more than 25 years of professional experience in international law, including 14 years as registered attorney and in-house counsel on regulatory compliance and litigation worldwide. He has a native fluency in Spanish and French, and is fully fluent in English.
