An activist and organizer in his personal life, Imara serves as a program director, monitoring, evaluation and learning expert, governance specialist and perpetual student of the principles of democracy in his professional life. From his time working with Georgetown University and the International Republican Institute (IRI) to his current work at American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Institute (ABA-ROLI), Imara has more than a decade of experience applying theories of democratic governance to the implementation of development, democracy, human rights and governance programs around the world. Over the course of his career, Imara has supported and implemented programming across dozens of countries including sensitive portfolios across LAC, MENA, Asia and Africa.
An expert in Monitoring Evaluation and Learning, Imara focuses on program monitoring, adaptation, systems mapping and political analysis. Building on his knowledge of governance and experience in political analysis, Imara was recruited to IRI’s Morocco office where he served first as a Governance Specialist and later as Resident Program Director or Chief of Party. Since that time Imara has served long-term as a Program Director and Technical Advisor for portfolios across North Africa and Asia while continuing to polish his knowledge as an evaluator.
