Carole Botello, Senior Program Officer, joined ABA ROLI January 2022 as a Program Associate in the Latin America and the Caribbean Division. Previously, she provided program management support as a Deputy Program Manager at Dexis Consulting Group where she worked on USAID-funded programs in Guatemala, Mexico, and Armenia that aim at combatting corruption and promoting the rule of law. Carole’s prior experience includes interning at the Inter-American Dialogue Peter D. Bell Rule of Law Program where she researched the lack of independence within the Mexican justice system, judicial reform plans, and the impunity crisis. Carole was a research assistant at the Center for International Development and Conflict Management, a Government Relations and Public Affairs intern at the National Endowment for Democracy, and a Web and Assistant Production intern at Voice of America’s Spanish service. Carole’s international experience includes studying human rights, peacekeeping, and conflict management at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Pristina, Kosovo, and interning at the Instituto Panamericano in Panama City, Panama. Carole earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication, focusing on Public Relations, and a minor in International Development and Conflict Management from the University of Maryland. Carole is fluent in English and Spanish.
