Daniela Borrero is a Program Officer for the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Division. Prior to joining ABA ROLI in October 2022, Daniela was a Youth Specialist at the International Institute of New England (IINE) through the Massachusetts Service Alliance. At IINE, Daniela provided case management support and direct services to recently arrived refugee and migrant youth, led community outreach initiatives, and streamlined access to services and resources to migrant communities and volunteers, including the development and implementation of a financial literacy curriculum. Daniela also developed a women empowerment group at IINE to create a space where migrant women, motivated volunteers, and community leaders can connect, learn from, and uplift one another. Daniela’s prior experience also includes working at Refugee Council USA (RCUSA) as an Advocacy and Communications Intern. At RCUSA, Daniela developed a national search engine for over 150 Community Sponsorship and Volunteer opportunities filtered across the nine major resettlement organizations in the country to increase the scope of local and national community engagement in refugee resettlement and advocacy initiatives.
Daniela earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies with a concentration in Global Security and minors in Italian and Russian Studies from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. During her studies, Daniela wrote extensively about border security and the criminalization of migrants in the context of asylum. Daniela speaks English, Spanish, and Italian.
