Nimmi Ariyaratne works with ABA ROLI as Country Officer for Sri Lanka, supporting local partners, monitoring and evaluation, communication and reporting, as well as new business development. She has over 14 years of work experience in the development sector, working in Sri Lanka, as well in the U.S.A and U.K, for international donor agencies, UN, and local/international civil society.
She has overseen projects funded by a range of donors (including USAID, SDC, GIZ, DFID, EU, Norway and UN Peacebuilding funds) in the areas of: strengthening local government and oversight mechanisms; supporting access to justice and rule of law; promoting social cohesion and reconciliation; building resilient rural livelihoods in partnership with private sector, and post-disaster/post-conflict humanitarian responses. Her areas of specialization include strategic planning, project and programme cycle management, results-based monitoring and evaluation, effective gender mainstreaming, and development of strong communication strategies for results reporting and knowledge sharing.
She is a member of the Sri Lanka Evaluation Association (SLEVA) and has completed the International Programme for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET) co-designed by the World Bank and Carleton University, in Canada, in 2015. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and French, from Wellesley College, USA, and completed her Master's degree in Development Studies, at the London School of Economics, UK, in 2009. She is fluent in English, Sinhala and French.
