Since 2004, ABA ROLI’s Jordan programs have supported justice sector institutions in training judges, prosecutors, police, and lawyers; enhancing law school programs; promoting legal rights awareness; and supporting civil society to address human rights concerns. Strategies on justice sector reform were based on a series of initial justice sector assessments and led to new court processes, practical legal education opportunities, strengthened training programs for judges, MENA’s first code of judicial conduct, and professional development opportunities for women judges and lawyers. In addition, ABA ROLI has worked with civil society organizations (CSOs) to provide legal aid and other services to survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence. ABA ROLI partners include the Office of the Attorney General, Ministry of Justice, shelters, CSOs, and community-based organizations (CBOs).

The Jordan office supports regional programming as well, providing gender and social inclusion expertise.
