In 2018, the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) partnered with the Wildlife Conservation Society to raise awareness among and build the capacity of law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges to investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate cases of wildlife trafficking (WLT). Together with Sri Lanka’s Department of Wildlife and other key stakeholders, this collaboration aimed to systematize information sharing between relevant agencies and catalyze enforcement efforts against WLT. ABA ROLI worked closely with WLT experts and relevant agencies to identify capacity needs for effectively handling WLT cases and developing training and resources that address these needs.
