Roundtable Discussion Two: Evolution of U.S. Government Efforts to Counter Corruption through Strengthened Coordination

As part of the Anti-Corruption Policy and Research Outreach and Engagement Program, the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) hosted its second roundtable discussion event on June 22, 2023—focused on the topic of, "Evolution of U.S. Government Efforts to Counter Corruption through Strengthened Coordination.’’

The panel of high-level U.S. Government officials discussed developments in the Department of State and the Department of Justice to pursue concrete lines of effort that advance the objectives outlined in the United States Strategy on Countering Corruption.

The event was attended by anti-corruption stakeholders in the U.S. Government, academia, the private sector, and civil society. The moderator and speakers included:

  • Robert Leventhal, Division Chief, Global Policy and Programs, U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

  • Richard Nephew, Coordinator on Global Anti-Corruption, U.S. Department of State.

  • Ambassador James O’Brien, Head of the Office of Sanctions Coordination, U.S. Department of State.

  • Andrew Adams, Director, Task Force KleptoCapture, U.S. Department of Justice.
