On December 14, 2024, the Human Rights for All (HRA) project, implemented by the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) and the ABA Center for Human Rights (ABA CHR), provided support for the “Freedom of Expression Concert” held in Guatemala City. Organized by the Presidential Commission for Peace and Human Rights (COPADEH), the event commemorated International Human Rights Day—celebrated annually on December 10—and underscored the nation's commitment to upholding fundamental freedoms. The HRA project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The concert featured performances by renowned artists, including Sara Curruchich, the first Indigenous Guatemalan singer-songwriter to perform internationally in Kaqchikel and Spanish. Other notable acts included The Jazz Fusion Band, Fernando López, and Glass Collective with Gabriela Bolten. The performers’ diverse musical expressions highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Guatemala and the role of artistic freedom in promoting human rights.
