Results of the 2011 ABA Forum on the Construction Industry Writing Competition

The winner of the 2011 ABA Forum on the Construction Industry Student Writing Competition is Christopher T. Horner II, University of Virginia School of Law, for his article “Dispute Review Board Recommendations: Answers to Questions of Admissibility and Deference in Subsequent Proceedings.” Christopher received his first-place award at the 2012 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV.

The judges also recognized three finalists:

  • Michael Brawner, California Western School of Law, “CALGreen and SB 800: The Argument for Extending Notice and Opportunity to Repair Requirements to Residential Green Defect Claims.”
  • David Perez, University of Virginia School of Law, “Moving Beyond Adarand: The State of Affirmative Action in Government Procurement Programs Today and Going Forward.”
  • Brandon Sieg, William and Mary Law School, “Tort, Not Contract: An Argument for Reevaluating the Economic Loss Rule and Classifying Building Damage as ‘Other Property’ When it is Caused by Defective Construction Materials.”
