Chair, ABA Law Student Division

As chair of the ABA Law Student Division, I eagerly welcome you to the 2011–12 school year. I look forward to working alongside each of you as we address areas of concern for law students in law schools across the country. Please be assured that the Division is in the hands of very capable leaders. I cannot say enough about the Division’s Board of Governors. They are fully committed to representing you on the most pressing issues, in the most professional manner, and as expeditiously as possible. With the momentum gained under the leadership of the past Board of Governors, we will continue to move the Division onward and upward toward success.

Officially Speaking

It is my expectation that every member of the Law Student Division receive the utmost respect from all board and staff members. I also hope that law students across the nation will strive to maintain the helpful, friendly, and unwavering commitment of defending liberty and pursuing justice. Our reputation as a Division and our impact on society will only be as strong as each of us is willing to contribute.

With the leadership of our Student Bar Association presidents and our representatives at our respective institutions, we can assure that all students are afforded the opportunity to get involved. The Division’s diversity initiative will facilitate special efforts to seek greater involvement from our African American students, Hispanic American students, nontraditional students, LGBT students, and others of minority status.

I encourage you to get involved by participating in Division events, attending meetings, and networking with lawyers and other students. Visit the Division’s website to learn more about benefits, development opportunities, and scholarship awards available exclusively to members. I’m excited about the possibilities and you should be, too.
