After studying Arabic for a year at the University of New Mexico, Section member Lora Lucero has been in the Middle East teaching a course on climate change to engineers in Gaza, arranged through the Islamic University of Gaza. She is also doing research and writing about the situation on the ground in Gaza, an area under extreme stress after a five-year blockade. The UN reports that Gaza may not be livable by 2020. Lora hopes to have an opportunity to share her experiences with Section members next summer.
