At its fall 2012 meeting in Kansas City, the Section of State and Local Government Law Council voted to participate in an effort to develop model local government ordinance provisions addressing discrimination against persons based on their sexual orientation, gender identification, or gender expression. This project was brought to the Council by Section member Marti Chumbler, who is already working with Equality Florida—an organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community—to identify existing local ordinances relating to domestic partner registrations.
