Firms Honored at Annual Volunteer Recognition Event

Volume I Issue 1

On September 26, 2007, at the 21st Anniversary and Volunteer Recognition Event, the Death Penalty Representation Project honored WilmerHale and Mayer Brown LLP for their exceptional service to prisoners on Death Row.

Colleagues, friends, and supporters gathered at the InterContinental Hotel in Chicago for the annual celebration.

Opening remarks by ABA President William Neukom highlighted the contributions of volunteer law firms and their important role in helping to ensure justice.

Executive Director of the Center on Wrongful Convictions Rob Warden and Death Row Exoneree Gary Gauger told attendees about the difference competent counsel can make to an individual on death row in need of assistance.

The 22nd Anniversary Event will be held in New York City this fall. To be considered for the 2008 ABA Exceptional Service Award, a completed Application and Letter of Nomination must be received by July 25, 2008. To apply, please visit our website: http://www.abanet.org/deathpenalty.
