For an issue so fundamental to the daily life of a trustee, one might expect the law concerning communication with trust beneficiaries to be fairly consistent from state to state, but the recent decision of the Kentucky Supreme Court in JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A., v. Longmeyer, 275 S.W.3d 697 (Ky. 2009), suggests that what is assumed to be a basic principle may not be on as solid a footing as was assumed.
