As 1998 begins, Section members are urged to remember the RPPT committees as they plan for the new year. Here are a few ideas for new year's resolutions:
- join an RPPT committee;
- become more active in a committee;
- join a group committee list serve (e-mail access required);
- attend a committee meeting;
- participate in the planning or execution of a committee CLE program;
- encourage a colleague to join a committee; or
- write an article on behalf of a committee for Probate & Property or the RPPT Journal.
Committees are the life blood of the Section. Joining a committee is the best way to get involved, meet other RPTE membersand enhance one's career. To receive a Guide to Committees and a committee preference questionnaire, call Stacy Walter Woodward, Committee Manager, at (312) 988-5260 or log on to: http:// www.abanet.org/rppt/cmtes. html and register on-line. Group Committee list serves Debut The RPPT Technology Committee announces the creation of its new group committee list serves. To enhance communication between RPPT committee members, a list serve for each group of committees has been established.
A list serve is an electronic communication discussion list that allows people to communicate with one another via e-mail. It is an easy and very effective way for members of a large group to discuss issues. The group committee list serves were created to facilitate the exchange of topical cases, practical tips, concerns and other legal infor-mation between members of various committees. Committee business information will also be disseminated on the lists. The list serves provide opportunities for lawyers interested in committee projects and substantive issues to network with other lawyers who have similar interests and practice areas.
Section committee members who are interested in joining the lists under which their committees fall should simply follow the instructions below. (Membership in one of the committees in the group list serve is required to join. All committee members with e-mail access are encouraged to join a list. To subscribe on the Internet using a web browser:
1. Log on to the RPPT web site at http://www.abanet.org/rppt/home. html;

3. This will take you to the page of list serves and external sites (http:// www.abanet.org/rppt/net.html);
4. Click on the link "RPPT List serve/Discussion Groups" (http:// www.abanet.org/rppt/listserves.html);

Do not put anything in the subject line of the message. For example, someone subscribing to the Probate & Trust Group B list serve would e-mail: subscribe rppt-pt-groupb email@example.com, sending the message to: listserv @abanet.org. Members who do not have e-mail will not be able to participate.
