Spring CLE & Committee Meeting
The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping and it's springtime. That means that the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law (RPPT) Section is hosting its Annual Spring CLE and Committee Meeting. The meeting will be held at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., May 15-17, 1997, and registration is still open. The RPTE Section has 37 con- tinuing legal education programs planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Social activities and tours also are planned, and members are encouraged to bring their families and see the sights of D.C. A Dixie-land casino cruise on the Potomac River is planned for Thursday evening, May 15. Other activities include a tour of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial, a visit to the Marjorie Merriweather Post Estate and a tour of Mount Vernon. Staff Additions
The RPTE Section is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff members. New Staff Director Susan Marie Schaus started with the Section in March. Previously, she was Meetings Manager for the ABA's Antitrust Law Section for eight years and before that was with the Center for CLE for two years. In her new position, she will provide principal staff support and counsel to the Section leadership and direct a staff of six in implementing the work of the Section's committees, budget planning and finances, publications, marketing and membership campaigns, meeting planning and CLE programming. Maura J. McHugh joined the RPPT staff in January as Committee Assistant. She is the main contact for committee appointments, committee correspondence, newsletter development and printing, organizing committee meetings at both the spring and annual meetings, set- ting up conference calls and any general committee questions. The Section has published a new book entitled Single Asset Real Estate Bankruptcies: Current Developments and Legislative Issues. ABA Annual Meeting
The 1997 ABA Annual Meeting will be held in San Francisco, California, July 31 through August 6. Kennedy are scheduled to speak at the Annual Meeting. The RPTE Section has many CLE programs, committee meetings and events planned.
