Section Diversity Awards
In an effort to promote diversity within the Section, the Standing Committee on Diversity has recognized the Residential, Multi-Family and Special Use Group (RP) and the Employee Benefit Plans and other Compensation Arrangements Group (TE) for their outstanding efforts to promote diversity.
The Residential, Multi-Family and Special Use Group compiled a diverse panel, including an RPTE Fellow, for its Spring Symposia CLE program, “Origination Changes and Servicing Challenges That Are Transforming the Mortgage Industry.” The program was excellent and provided a wealth of information on the subject matter to attendees. In addition, the panel included speakers with diverse perspectives from various demographics of the legal profession.
The Employee Benefit Plans and Other Compensation Arrangements Group promoted diversity in the advancement of diverse members to leaders within the group and in its recruitment and involvement of leaders, speakers, and members in its Spring Symposia CLE programming. Specifically, the group created programs that brought to the forefront key health benefit reform issues that can affect a patient’s age, disability, income, or other special matters, and the diverse panel of speakers provided insights and brought to light significant concerns regarding reform measures.
The Section Diversity Awards were announced at the Plenary Session during the 2011 Fall Leadership Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona, and a plaque was given to each group chair.
