THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE PRESENTED ITS REPORT at the ABA LPM Section’s Spring Meeting in Napa Valley, Calif., with nominations for Section officers and Council members. Elections will be held in August at the ABA/LPM Annual Meeting.
LPM SECTION OFFICERS
Chair (Automatic Succession): Joan R.M. Bullock
Joan R.M. Bullock is a professor at the Florida A&M University College of Law teaching contracts, commercial transactions, business organizations, federal income tax, professional responsibility, law office management and accounting for lawyers. A member of the Michigan Bar, Joan has developed an expertise in law firm management and has extensive experience coaching and consulting with solo and small professional practice firms. She has practiced before the United States Tax Court and has assisted many startup enterprises, including law firms, providing legal, accounting, tax and general business services.
Chair-Elect: Michael P. Downey
Michael P. Downey is a litigation partner at Armstrong Teasdale LLP in St. Louis and a professional ethics lawyer. Mike’s law practice focuses on advising lawyers and accountants on legal, ethics, business and risk management issues, and representing such professionals in civil and disciplinary litigation. Mike also teaches legal ethics and law firm practice at Washington University School of Law and professional responsibility at St. Louis University School of Law. Mike’s LPM experience includes chairing the Section’s Education Board and Ethics Task Force, serving on the Membership & Marketing Committee, Publications Board and Section Council, and presenting for LPM at numerous meetings and telephone seminars. In addition, Mike authored the LPM book Introduction to Law Firm Practice and several articles for Law Practice and Law Practice Today.
Vice Chair: Robert A. Young
Robert A. Young is a partner and serves on the practice management committee of English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley LLP in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Tennessee. Bob is the former practice management committee chair for his firm, and served as its managing partner. He is currently serving as the LPM Secretary, Chair of the LPM Strategy and Planning Committee, Chair of the LPM Diversity Committee, and also serves on the LPM Membership Development Committee. He practices primarily in the area of medical malpractice and pharmaceutical litigation. Bob is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Kentucky Justice Association and the Tennessee Justice Association.
Secretary: Tom Bolt
Tom Bolt is founder and managing attorney of BoltNagi PC on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. He credits the success of the law firm, which has grown from a solo practice to a nine-attorney firm with multiple offices, in part to his long-term membership in the ABA Law Practice Management Section. Tom concentrates his practice in business law, banking, real estate, government relations, and the representation of trade and professional associations. He is Chair of the LPM Member Development Committee and a member of the LPM Section Council, as well as the LPM Diversity and Sponsorship Committees. He has served as president of the American Counsel Association, president of the Virgin Islands Bar Association, a member of the ABA Standing Committee on CLE, and the ALI-ABA Committee on Continuing Professional Education. Tom is a Delegate at Large to the ABA House of Delegates, a member of the ABA Diversity in the Education Pipeline Council and a life commissioner of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws.
