New Solid Ink Multifunction Printers
Xerox Corporation has launched the ColorQube 9300 Series of high-speed solid ink multifunction printers aimed at curbing color printing costs. Xerox says firms can cut color print costs in half with the Hybrid Color Pricing Plans available on the 9300 Series–paying only for the amount of color on a given page. The cartridge-free MFPs print and copy at speeds up to 55 pages per minute in color, 60 ppm in black and white, and scan as fast as 60 impressions per minute in color. Other benefits include consistent color prints, regardless of media type, and the ability to print from and scan to a memory stick or thumb drive via the USB port located on the side of the MFP. Plus, mobile users print securely from any email-enabled smartphone, tablet or laptop without downloading an application, loading software or searching for online printer information. Built-in security is included—image overwrite electronically “shreds” data on the MFP’s hard drive while 256-bit encryption protects information flowing through the device. Network authentication prohibits unauthorized access by validating user names and passwords. The 9300 Series is ENERGY STAR qualified and generates up to 90 percent less consumable and packaging waste than comparable laser devices.

One-Button Scanning for Document Management System
DocSolid and World Software Corporation have announced the integration of their products. Worldox Airmail2 allows users to file scanned documents directly into a matter workspace in their Worldox document management system. Airmail2 introduces the first universal, one-button, cloud-based scan capture solution. When integrated with Worldox, Airmail2 scans images to the user’s local Worldox document management system without the need for additional software, hardware or complicated procedures. It works with any MPF, digital copier or scanner that can scan to the network. Users place a postage stamp-size bar code on a document, scan it and receive it in either email or Worldox in seconds. Two standard modules are available: Airmail2 Me and Airmail2 Worldox. Airmail2 Me captures scans from any MPF or scanner and returns the scanned items to the user’s email. From there, users can drag and drop images into related folders. Filing attributes are automatically applied. Airmail2 Worldox takes the process to the next level by filing the documents directly into the Worldox matter workspace.

LexisNexis Launches InterAction 6.0 for Microsoft Outlook
LexisNexis InterAction 6.0 for Microsoft Outlook now allows users to view and access firmwide CRM data from individual Outlook 2010 accounts. Features include a time-saving toolbar appearing inside a panel displayed within Outlook that allows users to hover their mouse to access contact information, identifying mutual relationships, upcoming meetings, activities or changes, and browsing notes summarizing previous interactions with email recipients. A search field function quickly searches for contact details shared by others across the firm, without having to navigate away from the inbox. The add activities feature logs events (such as emails and calendar items) directly from within Outlook, and the “mutual connections” feature allows users to see who else within the firm has interacted with each contact. InterAction 6.0 is also compatible with the older Outlook 2007 version.

Tool for Archiving Social Media Activity
PageFreezer.com, a cloud solution for preservation of dynamic web content, now has capability for capturing and storing social media activity—including blogs and the comments within them, Twitter feeds, Facebook, LinkedIn recommendations, and so forth. This feature is aimed specifically at helping firms and individuals working in the financial industry comply with social media records retention policies and new regulatory requirements for record-keeping. A “perfect” archive needs to fill a tall order. Records must be kept in such a way that they can be reproduced quickly, and they must be preserved in whatever medium they were originally produced. Further, records must be kept for periods of up to seven years and they must bear proof of “data integrity and authenticity.” PageFreezer meets these requirements, even for social media content, by stamping each page with a digital timestamp and signature, then storing it in a complete and searchable format. PageFreezer operates as a stand-alone SaaS version of website and social media archiving technology.

Affordable Searching and Collecting
PowerSearch from PowerSearch Software is a new application that enables users to cull their data prior to collection and to quickly find all files—reducing collection time and costs by 80 percent or more. Users point the software to their local drive or network repository to quickly generate a snapshot of all available files. PowerSearch claims it is the only product on the market today that allows users to extract, process, search and cull documents before collecting them at no cost. Users only pay for final results—files they ultimately deem relevant and decide to save—by using a system of tokens purchased via PayPal. Among its features, PowerSearch automatically identifies files that require preprocessing, including .pst and .nsf email formats, as well as zipped and image files. It has the ability to index and analyze files and gives almost instantaneous search results, even on massive amounts of data. Complex searches are easy to construct using drill-down technology and the onboard dictionary that shows all the words that exist in the identified files. PowerSearch extracts email repositories and zipped files, indexing the content of emails and electronic documents, making them fully searchable. Search results can be saved in folders and if necessary, exported into current tools for further processing.
