Report of the ABA LPM Section Nominating Committee, 2011

The Nominating Committee presented its report at the LPM Section's Spring Meeting in Palm Springs, with nominations for Section officers and Council members. Elections will be held in August at the Annual Meeting.

LPM Section Officers

Chair (Automatic Succession)
Thomas L. Mighell
Tom Mighell is a records management and electronic discovery consultant with Contoural, Inc. He is a frequent speaker and writer on legal technology, ediscovery, and the Internet. He is the author of iPad in One Hour for Lawyers, and the co-author of The Lawyer's Guide to Collaboration Tools and Technologies: Smart Ways to Work Together, both published by the LPM Section. Tom also co-hosts The Kennedy-Mighell Report, a legal technology podcast on the Legal Talk Network. Tom served as Chair of ABATECHSHOW in 2008 and Chair of the LPM Education Board in 2009. Prior to becoming a consultant, Tom practiced law for 18 years with the firm of Cowles & Thompson in Dallas, and is still licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas.

Joan Rose Marie Bullock
Joan R. M. Bullock is a professor at the Florida A&M University College of Law teaching Contracts, Commercial Transactions, Business Organizations, Federal Income Tax, Professional Responsibility, Law Office Management and Accounting for Lawyers. A member of the Michigan Bar, Joan has developed an expertise in law firm management and has extensive experience coaching and consulting with solo and small professional practice firms. In addition to teaching and coaching, she has practiced before the United States Tax Court and has assisted many startup enterprises, including law firms, providing legal, accounting, tax and general business services. She has also worked as a certified public accountant for the office of Coopers & Lybrand. There, she practiced in the areas of corporate tax, mergers and acquisitions, and valuation.

Vice Chair
Michael P. Downey
Michael Downey is a partner in the national legal ethics practice group at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, where his practice focuses on representing lawyers, accountants and their firms on legal, ethics, discipline, risk management and related business and professional issues. In addition, he teaches legal ethics and law firm practice as an adjunct professor at Washington University School of Law and legal ethics at St. Louis University School of Law. He is active in national, state and local bar associations, including serving on the LPM Section Council, Membership and Marketing Committee, and Publications Board. In addition, Mike has chaired the LPM Section Education Board and Ethics and Technology Committee of the for Professional Responsibility. Author of the LPM book Introduction to Law Firm Practice (2010), he has published more than 40 articles and has spoken more than 200 times on professional ethics and law firm practice.

Secretary
Robert A. Young
Bob Young is a partner and serves on the practice management committee of English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley, LLP in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Tennessee. He is the former practice management committee chair for his firm, and served as its managing partner. He is currently serving as the Chair of the LPM Diversity Committee, and also serves on the LPM Membership Development Committee. He practices primarily in the area of medical malpractice and pharmaceutical litigation. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Kentucky Justice Association and the Tennessee Justice Association.
