Summer can bring an opportunity for lawyers and legal professionals to catch up with family and friends and achieve greater balance between work and life. Joint Spring Conference with ABA YLD.

More than 400 members of the ABA Young Lawyers Division and the LPM Section came together for a Joint Spring Conference in New Orleans in May. In addition to a dozen CLE programs specifically designed for this conference, members enjoyed numerous opportunities to socialize and network with lawyers from around the country. Join us for other upcoming LPM Section meetings in St. Maarten (Fall 2009) and Las Vegas (Spring 2010).

The ABA & LPM Annual Meeting returns to Chicago.

The ABA and the Law Practice Management Section return to Chicago this summer for the Annual Meeting, with LPM activities to be held July 29-August 1. Join LPM for business meetings, a variety of CLE offerings, and networking events, including the July 30 LPM Welcome Reception at the Signature Room, high atop the John Hancock Tower, with breathtaking views of the city. LPM will present several important CLE programs, including the ABA Showcase program The Credit Crisis: How Compensation Practices Adversely Affect the Advancement of Women and Minorities in the Law, and How We Must Change Them. Other CLE presentations include the following: Thinking Globally, Acting Locally—Marketing to an International Audience; Making Rain During a Drought: Business Development in Tough Economic Times; Bucking the Trend: Tales of Successful Firms in Turbulent Times; and Staying Hired: Everything Young Lawyers Need to Know But Are Afraid to Ask. The ABA Assembly will be held August 1 at the Chicago Symphony Center, followed by the ABA President’s Reception at the new Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. Behind the scenes at the ABA, the dedicated Law Practice Management Section staff works to ensure the continued quality of LPM programs, services and publications.
