When considering one of these services, do your homework and ask about the following:

• Company Background: How long has the service been in business? How many employees does it have, and are they bonded? What happens to customers’ data if the company goes out of business?
• Security: Is data encrypted before Internet transmission? When it is stored? Who has access to it? What physical security and redundancy measures are implemented?
• Functionality: Will the system work with your existing hardware and software? What is backed up? How long does it take? What is the process for restoring data?
• Pricing: What are the storage costs? Can you easily upsize or downsize to meet changing needs? If you exceed your selected storage amount, how much will additional space cost?
