Metadata Stripper for Excel Files

has announced the release of Metadata Assistant for Microsoft Excel, which cleans out hidden information from documents. Nearly half a million desktops have already used Metadata Assistant for Word. The new software extends the same functionality to Excel files. With Metadata Assistant, readers can analyze hidden data that exists in a spreadsheet or a word processing document. They can then remove hidden data that could, for example, include concealed numbers that comprise confidential company formulas or text revealing incriminating motivations.

, has released PaperPort Pro 9 Office. This new Microsoft Windows application combines the power of creating PDF files, the convenience of network scanning and the efficiency of document management into a single, easy-to-use productivity package. PaperPort Pro 9 Office, a professional business version of PaperPort Deluxe, gives organizations of all sizes a way to work with all their scanned paper, PDF and digital documents. It replaces copying with automatic scan-to-desktop capabilities; streamlines business processes with document annotation and assembly features; and enables paperless document flows by connecting the PC desktop with existing back-end enterprise systems, including Oracle 9i and Microsoft SharePoint. A key capability is the program's built-in support for creating PDF files from any Windows application, without the need for additional PDF creation, editing or viewing software. PaperPort also supports popular PDF capabilities such as annotations, notes and highlights, sending PDF files as e-mail attachments and converting static PDF files into electronic forms that can be filled and printed.

delivers magazines in digital format straight to users' desktops or laptops through the Internet. The magazines have the same content and graphics as the print editions, but are combined with interactive elements such as full searchability and Web linking. Zinio was recently enhanced to take advantage of Microsoft's Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system, which offers a high-resolution, pen-reactive screen and digital-inking capabilities. Streamlined Information Sharing

and RealLegal, LLC, have formed a strategic alliance to simplify electronic sharing of information between law firms and their corporate law department clients. Integration of RealLegal's Practice Manager and Tripoint's DirectInvoice software will enable law firms to share matter profiles; case-related documents, notes, events and tasks; and setting and submission of budgets. This integration will allow firms using Practice Manager to securely move sensitive case-related information over the Web, submit matter open requests to corporate law departments and receive new matter open requests directly to Practice Manager.

CMR and Docket Software Integration
CompuLaw, LLC

, publisher of calendar/docket software with built-in court rules databases, has signed a partnership agreement with Interface Software to integrate CompuLaw Vision SQL with Interface Software's InterAction client relationship management system. CompuLaw plans to enable Vision SQL to access data files from InterAction to create a virtually seamless integration between the two products. Vision is a full-featured calendar/docket software for Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 and XP. Vision also includes integrations with Microsoft Outlook, Novell GroupWise and Lotus Notes. In addition, the Vision Web Portal provides users with anytime, anywhere access to their schedules through Vision SQL.

Document Searching Alliance

, announced recently that Synthetix, its document retrieval and analysis search engine, will be integrated with Dataflight Software's next version of Concordance, the litigation management software package. Synthetix augments traditional information search methods with its unique ability to find "semantically related" materials in even the largest document collections. Integration of Synthetix with Concordance will allow users to gain even greater control over their discovery documents. In addition to comprehensive full-text searching, Concordance users will be able to search their databases by relevance, which offers an important additional searching tool to help find key documents and evidence, as well as duplicate documents within a Concordance database.
