Section Co-sponsors Human Rights Month at American University
The Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities was a co-sponsor of the 2004 Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, held in June at the American University Washington College of Law (WCL). The Academy provided summer training courses to lawyers, activists, and scholars on human rights law, offering them the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and interact with other experts in the field. The Academy was the first of its kind offered in both English and Spanish, and drew a diverse group of participants. In addition to the courses offered, the numerous international organizations, NGOs, and human rights law-related institutes located in the Washington, D.C. area provided networking and research opportunities to Academy participants.
