2004 Section Nominating Committee to Submit Slate of Candidates for Council Positions
The 2004 Nominating Committee is set to recommend candidates for open Section officer and Council positions in the 2004-05 ABA year. Past Section Chair Bill Robinson of the University of the District of Columbia School of Law chairs the committee; other members include former Section Chairs James E. Coleman, Jr., and Rebecca Westerfield, Section Delegate C. Elisia Frazier, and Section Council Member Georgina C. Verdugo.
The committee will submit a slate of candidates for Chair-Elect, Vice-Chair, and Secretary (all one-year terms), and available Section Council seats. This year's Chair-elect, Stephen F. Hanlon, will succeed automatically to the position of Section Chair in 2004-05.
Section members will vote on the committee's slate in August during the Section's annual meeting in Atlanta, Ga. The meeting will take place at a luncheon to be held at noon on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at the Wyndham Atlanta Hotel. Under the Section's bylaws, any Section member may nominate candidates other than those selected by the Nominating Committee by submitting a written statement of nomination, signed by one other member in addition to the member being nominated, to Section Chair Joan F. Kessler or to Section Secretary Paul M. Igasaki at least six hours before the election. Nominations are not permitted from the floor at the time of election.
Any Section member interested in nomination for a Section officer or Council position may contact any Nominating Committee member or Section Director Tanya Terrell-Collier (202/662-1030).
