Spring 2003

2003 Nominating Committee Named

Former Section Chair Marna S. Tucker of Washington, D. C., has been named chair of the Section's 2003 Nominating Committee. The Committee will develop a slate of candidates for open Section officer and Council positions in the 2003-04 ABA year.

Section Chair Mark D. Agrast also appointed Paul M. Igasaki, Estelle H. Rogers, Robert E. Stein, and Walter H. White, Jr., to serve on the Committee.

The Committee will submit a slate of candidates for Chair-elect, Vice Chair, and Secretary (all one-year terms) and at least four Section Council seats (three-year terms). This year's Chair-elect, Joan F. Kessler, automatically succeeds to the position of Section Chair for 2003-04.

Section members will vote on the committee's slate in August during the Section's annual meeting in San Francisco, Calif. Under the Section's bylaws, any Section member may nominate candidates other than those selected by the Nominating Committee by submitting a written statement of nomination, signed by one other member in addition to the member being nominated, to Mark D. Agrast or to current Section Secretary John D. Podesta at least six hours before the election. Nominations are not permitted from the floor at the time of election.

Any Section member interested in nomination for a Section officer or Council position may contact any Nominating Committee member or Section Director Penny Wakefield.
