Section Co-Sponsors 2006 Lavender Law Conference
The Section was pleased to co-sponsor the 2006 Lavender Law Conference, held by the National Lesbian and Gay Law Association on Oct. 7-9, 2006, in Washington, D.C. The conference was overwhelmingly successful with over 600 registrants attending approximately 30 CLE programs covering a wide range of issues such as: the current state of same-sex marriage structures in the U.S.; developments in transgender protections; HIV/AIDS prevention; tax and other financial considerations when same-sex relationships dissolve; LGBT youth in the foster care system; constitutional law claims in advancing LGBT rights; representing service members discharged under Don’t Ask Don’t Tell; and the legal implications regarding domestic violence in same-sex relationships. Almost 250 recruiters representing large firms, corporations, legal services and non-profit organizations were on-hand to interview students registered for the conference. The 2007 Lavender Law Conference will be held Sept. 6-8, 2007, in Chicago. For more information visit www.LavenderLaw.org.
